Existing TikTok Shop sellers facing claims, a violation or a deactivated shop. After the show. Intermediate. 8-min read.
TikTok Shop treats shipping empty packages, shipping fewer units than ordered and declaring the wrong weight as fraudulent shipping behavior. It also prohibits Unpaid Postage Orders (UPO) and counterfeit labels. When enough claims stack up, enforcement can include Seller Shipping limits of 90 to 365 days, order volume limits, withheld funds, a longer settlement period, re-verification, order closure or shop closure. Your defense is evidence you collect before the parcel leaves.
Steps Before Any Claim
- Record a packing video for every order. TikTok asks for continuous, clear, unedited footage that shows the order ID, tracking number or QR code, the correct product in full quantity, and the packing materials.
- Weigh every parcel and keep the carrier receipt. For missing-item claims, TikTok lists a carrier receipt showing package weight as evidence, and says it should match the weight on the product detail page.
- Declare the real packed weight and size. Declaring incorrect weight or dimensions is on TikTok's list of fraudulent shipping behavior.
- Use valid postage on every label. If you use a fulfillment center or third-party label tool, confirm the labels are paid carrier postage tied to the order.
- Keep supplier invoices by product. Appeals and authenticity disputes both ask for purchase proof.
Steps When a Claim Arrives
- Reply on the platform with the matching evidence. For a missing product, send the packing video and the weight receipt. For a damaged item, send photos and proof it left in good condition.
- Appeal refunds you disagree with. On Manage Returns/Refunds, select Appeal, choose the reason, such as "Missing product or product parts", upload evidence and submit. You can keep adding evidence after you submit.
- Unbox every return on video. Show the return order number, all 6 sides of the package and the full unboxing.
Steps If You Get a Violation or Deactivation
- Open the violation ticket. Go to Seller Center > Account Health > Violation Records. The ticket shows the enforcement, the reason and the next steps.
- Correct if that option is shown. A Correction fixes the issue before enforcement takes effect. It is not offered for every violation.
- Appeal within 30 days. If the first appeal is rejected, you have 15 days for a second. There are 2 appeals per case, and some violations allow only 12 to 72 hours.
- Send complete, original documents. TikTok's appeal guide lists a business license and government ID (front and back), proof of your warehouse, and purchase contracts and invoices that match your best-selling products. Shipping records and stock photos are optional. A video of you holding your license and ID is required. Incomplete or altered documents are rejected automatically.
- Write a short, factual explanation. State what happened, list the evidence and describe the fix, such as stronger packaging, packing video on every order and weighing every parcel. Avoid emotional language.
- Escalate only after 2 rejections. Contact your account manager if you have one, or use the TTS US Seller Growth Community, with screenshots and an appeal letter.
- Check connected accounts. Accounts that share contact information or a bank account are treated as connected, and enforcement can extend to them. Do not open a new shop to keep selling; TikTok says that can be seen as bypassing enforcement.
Worked Example
Example timeline using TikTok's appeal windows. A violation notice arrives on Oct 1. Your first appeal must be in by Oct 31. If it is rejected on Nov 5, your second appeal must be in by Nov 20. Only after that second rejection do you escalate.
Example evidence pack for one missing-item claim:
- Packing video showing the order ID label, both units and the sealed box
- Carrier receipt showing the parcel weight
- Product page showing the listed weight
- Supplier invoice for the product
Common Mistakes
- Starting packing videos only after the first claim.
- Sending edited clips or off-platform chat screenshots. TikTok may reject them.
- Filing a long appeal with no documents attached.
- Ignoring a 12 to 72 hour appeal window on a pending violation.
