Follow one order tomorrow morning.
Before you hire, see where the time actually goes.

The pile looks like proof.
Orders stacked. People moving. Someone says it: we need another packer.
Sometimes that's true.
Sometimes the hours you already pay are going to searching for bins, waiting on handoffs, and opening boxes to fix what should have been caught earlier. Another hire walks into that same path — and the pile still looks like proof.
Tomorrow morning (or right after your next show wave), do this:
Pick one normal order. Follow it from when it's released for fulfillment to when it sits in outbound staging. Write who touches it, where they search, where they wait, and what gets redone.
One order won't finish your staffing plan. It will stop you guessing.
Make the next wage dollar intentional — hire, fix the path, or both on purpose.
